Glass
The best way to clean glass countertops is to spray a soft cloth or sponge with glass or multipurpose cleaners and then use this sponge or cloth to remove dirt and grime from the countertop. Avoid using scratchy cleaning tools and abrasive cleaners. Glass doesn’t stain and doesn’t require any sealing.
Granite
As a kitchen and bathroom design expert, we recommend cleaning granite countertops by wipring them with warm and soapy water. Rinse off the countertop with warm water and avoid abrasive cleaners. If the countertop has stains, then apply a baking soda paste, cover the countertop with a plastic wrap and then let it sit overnight. Wipe away the paste with warm water and a soft cloth. You can seal granite countertops with a product formulated for stone.
Stainless Steel
You can remove smudges on a stainless steel countertop’s surface by using specialized stainless steel cleaners. Soap and water will work in a pinch but you have to be careful not to let the water sit for too long if you want to avoid spots. Stainless steel resists stains of course, but it is susceptible to rust marks. To remove rust marks, use a homemade lemon juice and baking soda paste or a mild abrasive cleaner. Stainless steel countertops don’t require sealing.
